FORUM 2009
‘The Effective Trade Technology’ Forum took place on October 1-3, 2009 in Odessa.
The objectives of the Forum: enhancing the efficiency of trade companies by reducing running costs of refrigeration equipment operation, energy saving, reduction of foodstuffs spoilage, increase in sales effectiveness.
This event took place for the fourth time and gathered participants of 37 companies from Ukraine, Latvia, Moldova, Transdniestria.
The participants of the Forum got acquainted with the innovations, up-to-date production technologies and latest products represented by Aisberg. Besides there were delivered interesting lectures such as: ‘Multidecks’ Energy Consumption Analysis’ (by Aleksandr Dvornitsyn, Aisberg Ltd), ‘Economic Substantiation Of Applying Combined Multi-Compressor Plants With A Single Condensing Unit and Recuperative Heat-Exchangers’ (by Vadim Olshamovsky, The Odessa Refrigeration Academy), ‘A New MICROOX Technology Applied In Air Condensing Units Made By Guentner (Germany)’, ‘The Payback Period Analysis When Applying Adap-Kool’ Complex in Supermarkets and Hypermarkets’ by Danfoss, Denmark, ‘The New Sanyo Scroll-Comressors’, ‘Trade Efficiency During The Crisis. Stress-Resistant Formats’ (by P. Kalmykov, Trade Help).
The Forum enabled the participants to exchange some interesting information, got useful ideas and advice.
The leisure program favoured shirtsleeve familiarity between the customers and the producers that in the future will contribute to their fruitful collaboration.

The Forum, of course, is a useful event, where one can learn about new technologies or technical details of existing products. It is useful for uniting its participants.
Despite we all know each other, nevertheless, we do not communicate, because we work for competing enterprises. But technicians do not deal with a company - they deal with its products. In this case, there’s a common thing that units us dealing with equipment manufactured by Aisberg. And we share our experiences. Some counterparts call me asking my advice whether they should buy this or that products, or want to learn my opinion about the defrost system and other features applied in this equipment. I also call for their advice and look for other manufacturers.
ÂIn our retail chain we have installed various products made by domestic and foreign manufacturers of refrigeration equipment. And we can say that we have experience in operating any kind of equipment, which, one way or another, is sold in Ukraine. Lately there is much talk about the domestic equipment. Firstly, because it is cheaper (it’s the main advantage), and secondly, it is getting closer to European technical standards and design.
Aisberg is number one in the Ukrainian market of commercial refrigeration. It became obvious for us about two or three years ago. In 2005-2006 we learnt technical features and price terms of the equipment manufactured by Aisberg. In some of our stores there was mounted used European equipment and at the same time some domestic manufacturers - Ross and Aisberg (the largest of them) entered the market. Having carried out the analysis of price terms, technical features and design of products made by various companies, our domestic equipment tipped the scale. At that time two Ukrainian brands began an active expansion of the domestic market. Other things being equal, each of them have its own peculiarities. And Aisberg began to pull ahead providing the variety of products and some times adjusting to our specific requirements. In cooperation with our company Aisberg developed a design of display case with sliding decks for pastry which was patented later. Aisberg competitors having found that they got less orders and that their variety of products is poorer tried to improve it by offering the same services. I observed some companies in a race following the leader.
At the moment Aisberg is number one. Aisberg keeps moving onward – it enters foreign markets, participates in exhibitions and organizes forums for its customers and suppliers. I definitely can say that other manufacturers are not that vigorous.
Owing to this event I saw lots of familiar faces, whom I almost forgot. The meetings were very warm, it was nice to see everyone. The Forum was held at the highest level!!! Thank you.

Our company is a part of Roveka Group which is represented on all the markets throughout the Baltic countries - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Our cooperation with Aisberg has just begun. This year on September 28th the first equipment was delivered. During the Forum, I met the Sales Manager and the Chief Designer, we discussed some small details. The installers called us on-line, we switched the speakerphone on, and carried out the equipment assemblage together with them. After the first Aisberg equipment had been delivered we found that it was quite interesting. Before that we used to deal with equipment made in Italy as well as in Lithuania. Now we have decided to try products manufactured by Aisberg as a kind of alternative.
We are engaged in supermarkets turn-key equipping, from checkouts, shelving and turnstile systems up to trolleys. We promote Aisberg equipment on our market.
We visited Odessa two weeks ago, when we signed a contract with the Aisberg. When we were invited to attend the Forum, we have no doubts about accepting it, because we felt inspired by enthusiasm of Oleg Antonenko, General Director of Aisberg Ltd, and we were impressed by friendly, amicable and family atmosphere in the company.
Forum is aimed not only to meet and have a good time. Forum organized by Aisberg has proved that people are invited to not just to communicate, but to learn something new as well. There were professionally chosen group of speakers - ranging from the serious technical information, presented by Aisberg experts up to some interesting info presented by some Aisberg’s suppliers such as Danfoss.
Aisberg’s main peculiarity is not just a sale of refrigeration equipment, but the efficient use of its equipment and the emphasis on energy saving. At the moment Europe is just crazy about energy saving, despite European countries have enough money they prefer to save every penny. In the Baltics, it is not so widely spread, but in Europe it is considered to be a good form when a millionaire comes to a discount store and buys a pack of mineral water, just because it is cheaper, and he does not waste too much money.
Now owners of big chains demand a reasonable approach from their managers, it not just a brand that should be purchased, but a solution that would allow to save. I think that the very idea should be promoted by Aisberg, because before that moment I had not heard of such innovations from other manufacturers of refrigeration equipment.
I evaluate Aisberg products higher than its Italian counterparts. Italians represent their years experience, their brand, but nothing above this. In the Baltics, Ukraine is considered to be an under-developed country, but what we’ve seen here in Odessa proves the opposite. I wish that companies in Europe some day would have such equipment and knowledge as we saw in Aisberg. And for me the first trip was simply enchanting! And now I try to spread all this information in our region.
Last month we participated in three tenders, and we promoted Aisberg everywhere. Now we are equipping our first store together with Aisberg, I think that will continue our mutual collaboration. The things we discovered at the Forum has only strengthened our persuasion to promote Aisberg equipment.
The Baltic countries are quite a local area – the populations of three republics together amount to 5 million people. One Kazakh metropolis can easily outweigh us. We have common ideas with Aisberg management of our business further developing. Being Aisberg representatives - it is not easy and very interesting. I think that we’ll succeed!
We also passed through Kiev, Lutsk, Lvov, but Odessa is a state within a state! It is a city that lives by its own laws, which does not recognize a certain power and presents itself as a unique freedom-loving and cheerful city with its long history, considers itself a young city.

Each time, opening a new store, we try to bring some innovations. One of the zests among Aisberg products range are refrigerated barrels for pickles. Our experience in operating these barrels proves that their application in our supermarkets has a 30% increase in offtake of this commodity group. This is true! I can affirm it with confidence because we purchased them and placed in our supermarkets. A wooden shed for barrels called ‘a little house’ is our promotional site. We make bread by ourselves and organize bread tasting under the roof of the ‘little house’. Our suppliers also tend to arrange their promotions of pickles and even alcoholic beverages in the ‘little house’.
Currently, owing to the economic crisis we have decided to purchase equipment produced in Ukraine. Our latest tender was won by Aisberg. The store was opened on June 28, 2009. All the questions that arouse during the installation we discussed with Aisberg experts - high-rate professionals - both during our meetings and on the phone.
The Forum in Odessa favoured shirtsleeve familiarity between the executives of various companies who encountered in its warm atmosphere.
The professional models advertise multideck cabinets and serve-over display cases manufactured by Aisberg – they are company's brand image. In our opinion, it would be reasonable to attract also male models to advertise Aisberg products, because 60-70% of people engaged in trade business are women!

We’ve been cooperating with Aisberg Ltd since 2002. As soon as we began the renovation and construction of new stores, we began to deal with Aisberg.
All forums held by Aisberg are useful. The result of our participation in a Forum two years ago was the application of evaporators with liquid defrosting, which is now installed in all our supermarkets. This time we went to Odessa with a definite purpose. We’ve learned many interesting things and try to make use of this info. First of all, although this idea is not new, it has appeared long ago, but we fail to apply it before - is heat recovery.
There was a certain background of our cooperation with Aisberg. Aisberg is a manufacturer of refrigeration equipment, being one of few companies in our region.100 km is not considered a long distance, but there’s only one obstacle - the state border, but it’s also a solvable problem. Besides it’s interesting to deal with Aisberg: they often apply new ideas, and it is not just someone's ideas, already used someday by someone, these ideas are original, exclusive suggested by Aisberg. Other manufacturers cannot provide such kind of cooperation. It is also important that the suggested ideas and Aisberg technical solutions work in real life.
Aisberg is interesting, because we can always come and rely on the friendly conversation and professional support of its staff. We are very pleased to cooperate with Aisberg!

Aisberg enjoys the leading position in the Ukrainian market of refrigeration equipment. There’s no other company like this! The fact that distinguishes this company from others is the staff that not only does a good job, but is keen on being the first. ‘It’s better to be the first than the best’. And for Aisberg it’s not just a phrase, but forte. Oleg Antonenko aims to be first in everything and to make the best product. He does it not out of sporting blood, it’s his life and he enjoys it. It attracts indeed.
Chernigov region is quite hard to deal with – meaning that people there do not accept something new. And me, always being interested in something new, always wonder when it would be possible to implement. Oleg Antonenko is the leader and he has a professional team! People trust him, he is charismatic and attracts extraordinary people around him. Now is not the easiest time, but Aisberg team keeps going ahead despite all the difficulties!
Forum 2009 - is not just a step, it’s a leap forward. First of all I’m fond of high quality of representing information. There were professional speakers, who shared the novelties and the specific problems in our business. And every report was so interesting that the participants even couldn’t think of leaving the conference hall. I also enjoyed the interesting report represented by Alexander Dvornitsyn, the Head of Research Dept. on the results obtained experimentally. I’m a former researcher and I know what it means to discover something new by carrying out tests. This was the basis for the science - constant tests, scheduling, search for appropriate formulas, drawing algorithms, etc. Further calculations are made on the basis of laboratory studies. The research carried out by Aisberg, is definitely priceless. Nowadays in Ukraine research had gone into the past and the fact that Oleg Antonenko revives science - it's just great. If a man is obsessed by an idea, in this sphere, he is able to make a great discovery, to take a brilliant decision.
Aisberg is a manufacturing company, which started from scratch and has achieved perfect results. Visiting your workshops I was impressed by the changes that were made in last 2 years. The application of latest manufacturing technology confirms the fact that Aisberg is a leader of refrigeration equipment in Ukrainian market.
